The PNORS Technology Group are thrilled to announce our joint venture with the Association of Indonesian Forest Concessionaires (APHI), to establish the Indonesian Timber Exchange (ITE).
The ITE will introduce the business efficiencies and market expansion opportunities of electronic trading solutions to the Indonesian timber industry. In 2017, the PNORS Technology Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding with APHI with the intention of creating an eCommerce, Electronic Data Interchange system similar to its Timber and Hardware Exchange in Australia.
This collaboration will create a seamless eCommerce solution for the Indonesian Timber Industry which will enhance local and international trading opportunities which, by connecting buyers directly with sellers (bypassing brokers), will increase margins and the volume of exports from Indonesia to Australia, New Zealand and other countries around the world.
How does the ITE work?
The ITE will connect Indonesian timber producers with hundreds of local and international timber buyers which will produce more sales of Indonesian timber, as it will be easier to trade with Indonesian timber producers using EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).
From utilising EDI, members of the ITE can efficiently trade with hundreds of new trading partners without the manual processes involved with traditional procurement processes.
The Australian Timber and Hardware Exchange started in 2002. Today it has more than 300 trading partners exchanging EDI documents each day. What began as a small trading exchange between a handful of users, has now lead to some of Australia’s largest timber organisations using the exchange daily including, Bunnings Warehouse, Mitre 10 and many more.
What are the benefits to the Indonesian Timber industry?
This exchange will not only create an efficient eCommerce solution for timber buyers and suppliers, it will also connect the whole supply chain with international trading opportunities increasing Indonesia’s exports.
Furthermore, the ITE with a complete audit trail of all transactions, provides transparency and gives International buyers confidence in the provenance of the logs and timber. Coupled with SVLK (the Indonesian Timber Legality Verification System), the certification system accepted for IA-CEPA, the new trade cooperation agreement between Australia and Indonesia, it provides complete confidence in Indonesian products for timber buyers.
